All of a sudden, can no longer send emails in Thunderbird!

Up until the end of August, I was able to send emails with no issues using Thunderbird version 17.0.8 using Windows 8.

In the past few days (in September only - that seems related somehow!) I've been getting this timeout message when I try to send any emails from Thunderbird:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded:  SMTP Relay Connection timeout .  Please verify that your email address is correct in your Mail preferences and try again.

My outgoing server settings have always been the following (and have worked up until the month of September):

Server: mail.shaw.ca

Port: 25

No authentication or security.

Anyone know why I am having this problem NOW? And what I can try to fix it?
