Are there currently any outages in Winnipeg? My connection has been down this evening. Haven't felt like calling to sit on hold. Using my phone to post this.
What lights do you have on your internet modem?
Do you have other Shaw services? Do they work?
Connection came back on its own. However, during the outage, Shaw Home Phone was still working.
When internet goes down, phone service generally goes down too. I'm also not seeing any issues with internet routing in Winnipeg this evening.
Check the coaxial cable from the modem to the wall outlet, also splitter if there is one. If you have a non-wifi modem, also check out the cabling from the modem to your router.
If it drops again, do the lights on the modem change?
I guess I spoke to soon. It dropped again before going to bed and was still down this morning. The modem is a Motorola SB5102. When the connection is down, the Power, Receive, Send and Online LEDs are steady green. The PC/Activity LED is flickering amber.
I checked the coax at the modem and it was fine. I didn't have time to check the splitter before leaving for work but I'll check when I get home. I also confirmed that I can still make a phone call.
If the lights are all on then most likely the connection has not been interrupted. Do you have a router connected to the Shaw modem? If so, the next time the connection drops please bypass your router and connect directly to the Shaw modem.
If you are still seeing drops please let us know and we can take a closer look at your account.
Hi. I'd rather not bypass the firewall even if just briefly. I don't use a software firewall on my machines as that impacts internal LAN performance. I have a number of custom built machines running custom operating systems designed to operate behind a stand alone firewall.
It was still down as of 7am CDT before I left for work. Could you go ahead and take a look at my account anyway?
