when talking on the phone, someone buzz's the front door intercom. How can i talk to person on the front door intercom and then let them in without losing the person i'm talking too on my landline phone
This would all depend on how the building is wired. If you live in a building which has it own system for the Intercom that does not reply on your land-line for service then you should be able to do this. If the system is dependent upon your land-line you would not be able to talk on the phone while using the intercom unless you had a second line.
There's no way I can tell what type of wiring your building has but the newer buildings normally have a independent system which will even allow you to chose your cell phone to ring for the Intercom.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Either way it should be possible, call-waiting for the intercom's service.
It is possible that with a seperate system from the telephone, when an intercom call comes in, switching to the intercom cuts off the current call, or it is possible that the call is just held.
This depends on your building, and/or the switch used to go between the intercom system and your telephone line.
Not sure if that helps or not, but hopefully points you in the right direction
Sorry bigmacron, I was incorrect when saying you would need a second line. I believe you should be able to answer your Intercom as long as you have call waiting enabled on your account.
