I Am able to receive email but as of today I am not able to send on my phone. I have done the apple 7 update.
I'm also unable to send from my Shaw email address; I have set up the account multiple times and confirmed that I am following the instructions properly, but get a message that "the user name or password for email@example.com is incorrect."
I don't know if it's the same problem you're having, but in my case it appears that the iOS mail client is appending the ".mail" part of the outgoing server address and that may be why I can't send.
My suspision is that Remote Access isn't enabled on your account, if the wrong server was entered, or mail. is being appended, you wouldn't get the username/password is incorrect.
See if a shaw-moderator can check/verify if it is enabled or not
Rather than firstname.lastname@example.org, try email@example.com. mail.shaw.ca is the server used to send/receive mail. If your app is adding "mail." to your email address, manually edit it to remove "mail.".
Does that help any?
I can't edit it as it's happening after configuration, but since setting the account of as an Exchange account solved the problem it's no longer an issue...thanks for the idea, though!
While boberquell's problem is solved, if anyone else has the same issue:
The firstname.lastname@example.org, as opposed to @shaw.ca, is not an issue - this shows up because we're logging on to the outgoing mail server, mail.shaw.ca.
The problem would be one of incorrect username, incorrect password, remote access is not enabled, or perhaps a locked account.
I log into the same server, yet it doesn't show up like that for me. Yes, email@example.com could be an issue if the server is not wanting the "mail," in there.
