differences between old packages and new "Broadband" packages

Currently I have the older "Extreme" internet package; which, at the time that I upgraded, was to give me a download speed of 50Mbps (and paying $70/ month).

I just ran Shaw's own Speed Test; it showed (for my current plan) that I was getting a download speed of 22.64Mbps, what has happened in the last 3 years to the 50Mbps download speed that I was paying for?

If; looking at the (end result) of the Speed Test, my "Extreme" plan runs in between the current High Speed and Broadband 50 plans, so what download speed should I be getting, and why am I paying $10 more per month for the current High Speed Internet plan (I own the modem I'm using, so it can't be for a modem rental)?

Totally confused
