I have Shaw DPC3825 which is not very efficient so now bought Netgear WN3000RP extender but cannot get it to connect and answers would be appreciated thanks rob
You will need to enable WPS on the Cisco (it is disabled by default). You may then need to unplug the power to your router for 20 seconds.
Hope this works for you but please let us know if you require any further help.
where is this to change it
When you log into the DPC3825 click Wireless at the top,
Then WPS 2nd line of options from the top
where and how do you log into the DPC3825 is it in control panel or ? I don't seem to see it
http://192.168.0.1 username is cusadmin password is on a sticker on your modem
this does not let me in it takes me to a page that gives me a bunch of addresses to go to very frustrating does shaw have a different modem that works
Have the modem bridged, and use your own router is the best option
what does that mean and how do I do it,
this is a little silly for the amount I pay every month there should not be any problems that I have to take care of myself
Basically, you buy a router you like from a store, and use it for a wireless router instead
I will message you directly to take a look at your account and investigate further.
Please check your Inbox ^ above for a direct message from me.
You can find more information on logging in to your Wireless modem here: https://community.shaw.ca/docs/DOC-1033
Let us know if you have any further questions.
have they come out with an easy fix or new modem yet. for the money I pay every month I do not have the time or patience to deal with this inadequate system which does not work properly. I am starting to wonder if maybe after all these years as a customer I should be looking at alternative providers
Did you call in?
If the modem is in wifi mode the initial steps will work. If its bridged mode then you need to connect your own router and go through that 3rd parties steps to setup the extender.
But nothing in this thread has really been directly answered. Do you have actual wifi from your shaw modem/router? Do you know if its in bridged mode or not?
All of this can be done by calling in though. Shaw is pretty good at walking you through all the steps. You just have to jump through the hoops they ask to get it setup.
I spoke with Ali, but he let me know that we didn't receive a reply to the direct message he sent. Were you able to get WPS enabled so you can use your extender? If not, please let us know and we'll send you another direct message to look into this further. We can also help you bridge your modem if you wanted to use another router with your modem.
No I have not called in and sorry but I don't recall seeing the email that you mentioned. Who do I call and what are the hours
thank you Rob
I'll send you a message to your Community Inbox robdy so we can look into this further.

Just had to remove your information there, looks like you replied in the forum. If you access your Community Inbox at the top of this site, you'll see my direct message there which is just between us.
Heather it's not working
You have to call into Shaw (unless Ali already did this for you) to have your modem put into bridge mode. That is when we disable the wifi part of the DPC3825 by adding the correct codes onto your account. Then you would perform a factory reset by holding the recessed "reset" button on the back of the modem for 30 seconds. Once the modem comes online, you can connect your Netgear to port number 1 on the back of the Shaw modem to have internet.
If you want to call in its just the regular tech support folks. i am not 100% if 310-SHAW still works but i assume it hasn't changed.
But if Matt direct messaged you its probably faster going that route. They don't send emails though, its a message to your community account. At the top of the page you should have the blue shaw banner bar with all the different categories of service. Below that is the community links.
Inbox is where any direct messages will go.
