I've just taken down an outdated website to upload a current version and an error message came up indicating that my disc quota exceeded. Is it possible to get additional space in a hurry? Thanks.
Hi yiggs. Is this your webspace that is full? We aren't able to increase space on the server as that is a universal limit on all webspaces.
Yes - it's the standard webspace allocated with subscription. Almost made it through - didn't think it was bigger than my last site. Is there paid space availability? We're not a company - we're a non-profit society - any options?
There is a trick you can do where you can use multiple email addresses to get more webspace. However, you have to be careful when linking to those other sites so that it all works. It certainly makes managing the website much more difficult.
Thanks for this. I'm not that web savvy so I'm taking down the new site and re-establishing the old one for now till I can figure out what to do.
Or webspace on the 10 email addresses included with your account, have to design your site around that the space won't be in one folder though, as mentioned.
Shaw Hosting has plans that start at $5 per months. It might be worth considering. Shaw Business Web Hosting Services
I'm going to look into that - thanks!
Does anyone know what the current disc quota is or how I can find out?
The space per each Webspace is 20 mb. As cdearborn mentioned, you can get around that by creating a Webspace for other email addresses and then linking to them from your main Webspace, but that can be a complicated process and not for the faint of heart or technically intimidated.
Faint of heart describes me to a "T". But now that I know the disc space is 20mb the $5/mo with 200GB sounds like a deal. Going to look into that.
Another problem I'm encountering at the moment though is deleting some files on the new site I just uploaded. When I try to delete the recently uploaded site files separately a message comes up saying they don't exist but I can't upload my old site - get the same error message - disc quota exceeded. Do I have to just wait a while till everything catches up?
Sounds like you have not deleted the old files, while uploading new files. What are you using to upload your website?
I use Cyberduck. I was finally able to delete the new files - just took a while. Now I'm trying to re-upload my old site. A few pages loaded no problem but several didn't. I think I'm going to have to persevere just to get it up for the time being. On my FTP site a number of files indicate 0 B - in other words - they're not there. So I might try re-loading later because there seems to be a lag whenever I update something. Thanks again for getting back to me.
