I have the Personal TV digital box.
I am getting a reduced picture size that does not fill my TV screen on several channels.
On some channels the picture fills the whole screen.
Why is that?
Can I fix it?
If the picture isn't filling the screen, is it black bars on the left and right sides? This will happen when you're watching a standard definition channel on an HD TV.
You could always "stretch" the channel to fill the screen. You lose the black bars but the people's faces do look fatter. \
If you have an older guide Motorola, Pace, or Gateway, instructions fill "stretch" are at How to change the resolution settings on your Digital Box. If you have a new guide box, instructions are at Video Setup Settings - HD Guide .
The black bars are on the top and bottom of the screen.
Which channels are you seeing this on? It's possible that the black bars are part of the broadcast but I can check on our test TVs here in the office.
Some how the problem has mostly corrected itself.
But I still get a small black bar on channels 3,7,8,10, 12, 13, 15, 16,26
Could you share the model # of the digital box and what your digital box resolution settings are (if this is an HD capable box) currently?
Box is a motorolla DCT700.
Setting is 16.9
Just figured out why it seemed to correct itself.
I had set the aspect ratio to zoom.
On aspect ratio 16:9 I get the black bars on top and bottom.
On aspect ratio 4:3 get black bars on top bottom and sides.
On zoom I get only a small black bar on bottom.
