My iPhone will not send emails after the update to ios7. I have followed the steps laid out by shaw, however my phone will not verify "mail.shaw.ca" as outgoing server. Please help!

Just to make sure everything's been covered, please refer to our document here: How to set up email - iPhone/iPad (iOS 6)
As long as none of your existing email settings were changed, it should continue to work after updating to iOS7. If the settings look good, I would suggest setting up the email account again from scratch in order to reset it. It sounds like you're using Configuration 2, if that continues to present problems maybe give Configuration 1 a try instead.
