The explanation is that we experienced a hardware issue on our end which caused phone service to be affected for a number of our customers. We do our best on a consistent basis and allocate resources to prevent any such situation from occurring in the first place, but simply due to the nature of the technology in question and the scale on which it's deployed, there will always be situations which arise that we need to work to correct. When any such situation ever occurs though, we work hard to ensure that it's resolved as quickly as humanly possible and we do appreciate our customers' patience while we take care of any problems.
