I do not understand why I cannot get emails sent from my desktop to automatically show up on my Iphone and Ipad. Can this somehow be corrected.
You likely have your iPhone and iPad set up using Exchange with Activesync settings for your email. If this is the case, you'll notice that your mail folders sync automatically on these devices (for example, if you send an email on your iPhone, that email will also be accessible in the Sent folder on your iPad).
Unlike iOS devices (iPad, iPhone), most computer email programs don't support Exchange with Activesync at this time, and you likely have your computer mail program set up using POP settings. POP servers can't sync emails the same way, so if you send an email on your computer using POP/SMTP you'll notice it goes in your Sent folder on your computer, but doesn't show up on your iOS devices. Hopefully more computer mail programs will start supporting Exchange with Activesync soon to make that possible.
Hope this helps,
Thank you Jeff. This also answers why if I delete on my iphone, the deletion does not show up on my desktop and vice versa. So the lesson is to use the desktop for all important emails for which you will want a copy maintained...
Thanks so much.
