Since Friday, my PVR has been 'recording' 3 shows. The red circle shows in the PVR menu and I am unable to stop recording in order to delete recordings. I have already unplugged my PVR for 30 seconds and this has not helped.
the gateway is robust enough to not require a "power cycle" to solve issues like these.
they can simply click info on the recording, and choose "stop recording". That will remove the red dot and not cause an issue with the recording. It still stays intact.
as mentioned previously in another thread, this is a known issue.
I understand that you've already tried disconnecting power. Did you disconnect power from the main Gateway unit or the smaller Portal (the unit that connects to your TV)? If you haven't already, you should try disconnecting power for a few seconds from the larger Gateway itself.

I can confirm what mark_vse said. I've had this issue pop up a few times since purchasing the Gateway 2 years ago. (Pretty rare.)
I've never had a problem watching a show that did this after following mark_vse's suggestion.
I also had this problem a few days ago and it has been reported a few time this week at DH as well.
