I have read to procedure on the Shaw support website, which seems quite straight-forward, but if I've forgotten my email password, is it saved somewhere on the PC and /or in the email setup?
Do you remember your 'Customer Centre' ID?
If so, log in here, then go to 'Internet'>'Manage Email and Webspace'>'Change password' for the appropriate account.
If not, you will have to wait for a rep, sorry.
On a side not, I use a password manager seeing my memory is crap. I use KeePass. It's free. You/others may wish to give it a try.
Thanks "gamer guy" for the quick response. But duh, what's a 'Customer Centre' ID? My memory is worse than crap so I will give KeePass a look.
It's where you log in to do "Shaw stuff". Shaw Communications - Customer Centre
It's where you create your emails so you must have signed in at least once to do so. If you forgot the password for that it's easier to obtain. Click this link: Forgot Password - Customer Centre and follow the prompts.
You could try creating an account and see what happens.
Registration - Customer Centre Registration
I don't go to the customer centre very often. Also, I'm at work not at home and I don't have my account number memorized. Thanks again for your help.
Thanks gamerguy. If you're still having any trouble resetting your email account password through the Customer Centre, just let us know here and we'll help get that done for you.
Thanks [shaw]Matt, I'm going to give it a go when I get home. If I don't have any problems, I will have surprised myself.
Were you able to reset your password?
Not yet. On Saturday I was on the phone with tech Debbie, for about 90 minutes and we are working towards a resolution to my problems with email + Windows 8.1. Not much fun.
Retrieving email passwords are actually very easy with the right utility.
Below are two different programs that you can use. They might flag as a virus, but I assure you that they are only reported as a virus because a virus could be written to use these programs to do the same thing without your knowledge.
WebBrowserPassView - Recover lost passwords stored in your Web browser
Mail PassView: Password recovery for Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Windows Mail, and more...
That should allow you to find out what your password used to be.
