In an attempt at increasing the storage of our new PVR, I purchased a Fantom G-Force MegaDisk GF2000T 2TB external HD.
This drive works just dandy on a PC using either eSATA or USB, but the PVR refuses to see it at all. I followed the troubleshooting directions on Shaw's website and in the drive's manual, plus suggestions from my father-in-law, and my wife spent 40 minutes on the phone with a Shaw tech, trying a bunch of things including everything I had tried already. All to no avail.
The Shaw guy finally said to just buy another drive, because "they don't all have the same eSATA hardware inside, and you might get lucky with the next one". I can just see it: we order drive after drive after drive seeking the one that works, and we're old and dead before we find the magic one. I suspect the eSATA port on the PVR is defective or disabled. Would the Shaw tech have checked that remotely?
"Current version" on the PVR is given as 09.22. The Download button is grayed-out.
Any suggestions OTHER than "buy another drive"?
