wireless repeater for my Cisco dpc3825

Hi, I have Cisco dpc3825 router from Shaw, and as the WiFi signal does not reach the other end of my house well, I'm adding a wireless repeater (I have an old router which I configured to bridge mode).

To be able to connect the repeater to my router, I need to add the MAC address of the repeater to the WDS settings of the router. To be able to do that, I have to change router encryption mode to WEP. When I do that, I got problems: I am able to connect to the router, but the router does not have the internet connection anymore.

Am I missing something obvious?
