Spoke to Shaw on the phone and they didn't approve me for the new XB8 modem. I am on the Fibre+ 1.5 Gig 2 years contract and normally they offer the latest hardware to the customers on the highest tier plan.
My building has a Shaw node and supports the highest tier speed offered in Calgary, but the rep said I don't qualify.
Just wondering if anyone else is having this experience with Shaw?
@zylonite -- are you claiming that it is broken, or in some way, non-functional? If so, your contract with Shaw/Rogers entitles you to get it replaced, at no cost to you. Hopefully, the replacement will be the XB8. 🙂
@zylonite -- given the closure of the Shaw/Rogers deal, I see the following on the Shaw FAQ web-page:
Effective April 4, 2023, Shaw Mobile sign-ups, additional lines, and hardware upgrades will no longer be available.
So, your request for an upgrade from XB7 to XB8 may be denied, presumably, until "the dust settles".
